The Terminus Agenda Concludes in May

And it doesn't sound like it goes real well for our boy.

Variant cover by CLAYTON CRAIN
“The Terminus Agenda” finale!
It’s code red for the Teen Titans as their plan to capture and imprison Deathstroke has backfired in the worst possible way. Mercy Hall is on lockdown, and all the super-villains have escaped their cells!
As the villains team up to take down their captors, Deathstroke makes one final attempt at “fixing” Damian—will Damian finally abandon Batman’s code to save his friends from certain death?

Strangely enough, the regular cover for the book seems to be a little tricky to find among solicitation listed on the major comics sites. Bleeding Cool displayed the page from the Previews catalogue though so I share that here since it's as good a version of it as I've come across.

But get a closer look at Clayton Crain's variant for this book. Damn!

It's not clear whether Deathstroke show up in the epilogue that takes place in Teen Titans #30. It doesn't sound like it, as that issue appears to me more geared towards blow back to Damian's actions in the Deathstroke issue. The cover alone makes that quite clear.

If writer Christopher Priest continues as he has, I suspect we'll get another 5-6 part story following starting in June with Slade's world properly shaken up as a result of this one's conclusion. Dude doesn't mess around!

Sounds like a blast!

It also sounds like Christopher Priest is hanging around for the foreseeable future. I have no reason to think otherwise but he has done such a marvelous job with this character that I dread the day he leaves him so I'm always on watch for some sign that he will.

Unlike the Lazarus Contract story from a couple of years ago, it doesn't appear that the other Titans team (the non-teen one) will be involved in this one. That's too bad because Deathstroke truly does not have much history with this Teen team. he's certainly built some with Damian Wayne at a rapid pace, as well, as kid Flash, but I don't believe he's had any interaction with the other members.

Also, I thought Slade Wilson's identity as Deathstroke was public anyway so I'm not sure what Gordon is actually revealing to anyone.  But then, maybe one of the great many universal reboots at DC has done away with all that. Who can keep track anymore?

May Covers

Bleeding Cool gave us a look at some covers for the May books last week. They are not necessarily all variants, some are for books that did not a include a cover image with its promotional text.

The first that they showed was, oddly enough, very much revealed when The Lazarus Contract was announced. It is the regular Mike McKone cover for Deathstroke #19 (though BC seems to indicate it is for #18, but I believe that is an error on their past) so I've ignored it.

But what I believe is the "real" cover to #19 was displayed as well. That's it below, by Ivan Reis.

Hard to top Ivan Reis but goddamn if Phil Jiminez doesn't do exactly that in his cover for Teen Titans #8.

Naturally, I became a Deathstroke fan as a result of being a New Teen Titans fans first during the Marv Wolfman / George Perez years. I liked the new characters just fine (well, except for Changeling, he's a pain in the ass) but even at the time there was just something about the original characters that I found more compelling. I was always more interested in stories that featured those guys than Cyborg, Starfire, etc. I'm glad that they have their own book, though I admit I don't think it's quite hit the mark.

Lazarus Contract Hardcover Scheduled For November 2017

According to Amazon, that is. They already have it listed even though we're several weeks from the first issue of the arc being released. Mind you, the 6-month gap in publication is pretty consistent.

Now word on when the softcover version might be available. And as usual with Amazon, the promotional image being used currently may not be the final cover image.

Titans past, present and future collide with their eternal enemy Deathstroke in this monumental crossover from DC Rebirth TITANS: THE LAZARUS CONTRACT!
When Deathstroke discovers that Wally West's return holds the key to bringing his son back from the dead, he'll stop at nothing to do just that. Standing in his way? Both the Teen Titans and the Titans! But will both teams kill each other before Deathstroke does? Or will the Titans and the Teen Titans be fast enough to stop him from changing the world as we know it?
With a powerhouse creative team of Dan Abnett, Benjamin Percy and Christopher Priest, TITANS: THE LAZARUS CONTRACT sets the stage for the next era of Titans, Teen Titans and Deathstroke, the consequences of which will be felt for years to come!

The Lazarus Contract

This can not suck.

I was starting to wonder when it would ever happen though. Christopher Priest talked about clarifying the Deathstroke/Titans relationship right around the time the Deathstroke series was launching yet none of the solicited books seemed to even hint at that.

But here we are. The DC May 2017 solicitations will let us know what to expect.
